A 20-year-old BTech student of a private college in Janjheri died while his friend was injured after a speeding truck hit their bike near Airport Chowk on Saturday night.

Victim Ashish Manhas, a native of Hoshiarpur and currently living in Santemajra, was going on a bike to Zirakpur when a speeding truck crushed his head. Pillion rider Harsindra was injured in the accident and admitted to the hospital.

The police said the truck driver was identified as Mandi resident Suresh Kumar.

On the complaint of victim’s father Onkar Singh, a case of negligent driving has been registered against the truck driver at the Sohana police station.
