He submitted two memorandums to the Governor, seeking resolution of issues related to public transport and higher education in Mohali.
Through the first memorandum, Bedi sought establishment of a college or a regional centre affiliated with Panjab University in Mohali. He said Mohali, being an integral part of the tricity and one of the fastest-developing cities in Punjab, still lacks any college affiliated with Panjab University.
He requested the Governor to establish a college or regional centre in Mohali, to review the existing 85:15 quota system between Chandigarh and Punjab students, and to set up a joint committee between the UT Administration and the Punjab Government that could devise a fair and sustainable solution.
Bedi also suggested that the new centre be named after late Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, a proud son of Punjab and an alumnus of Punjab University. Through the second memorandum, Bedi informed Governor about the need for a “Greater Mohali City Bus Service”. He said the present CTU service was insufficient for the city.
