The award recognises how health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) can directly shape policy and improve public health. Their multiyear collaboration on Hepatitis C elimination in the US brought together partners across academia, government, and industry — including the White House, NIH, NBER, FDA, and US Congress — to generate actionable evidence that could drive real-world impact.
Their modelling work informed the US Congressional Budget Office (CBO)’s official score of the Cure Hepatitis C Act of 2025, bipartisan legislation introduced by Senators Bill Cassidy and Chris Van Hollen. Chhatwal said, “This recognition is a testament to how rigorous and policy-relevant HEOR can help advance national health goals and improve lives.”
