Armaanpreet Singh, a cadet of the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (AFPI), Mohali, has secured the first all-India rank for entry into the National Defence Academy. The final results following the written examination and SSB interview was declared by the Union Public Service Commission on this evening.

Son of a physics lecturer from Gurdaspur, Armaanpreet is the third boy from the institute since its inception to secure the top rank. He had opted for the Indian Air Force, with a desire to fly the Su-30 frontline fighter.

Besides, 14 cadets out of 24 who went for the SSB interview from the institute have made it to the merit list that comprises 641 candidates.

AFPI Director Maj Gen Ajay H Chauhan said as on date 238 cadets of the institute had joined different Service training academies and 160 alumni have been commissioned as officers in the Defence Services.
