At least 14 sanitation employees were found absent when Mayor Amarjit Singh Jiti Sidhu, along with Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi, today inspected cleaning work at Phase 7, Sector 70-71, Phase 3B2 and Mataur village.

The Mayor warned that strict action would be taken against the employees found absent during the inspection. He asked the employees of the sanitation wing to improve hygiene in their respective areas. He also issued instructions to increase the number of “trolleys” wherever required.

Bedi said at a meeting of the MC to be held on Monday, a resolution regarding mechanised sweeping would be passed and alternative cleaning arrangements would be made till the work order was issued.
