The Municipal Corporation (MC) will hold its next House meeting on October 1 with the reconstruction of damaged sewerage lines and stormwater drains being the main agenda.

The House will also deliberate whether to forego the formal process of inviting tenders to fast track repair work with 25 per cent hike in estimated cost of reconstruction.

The seven agenda items set to be tabled also include the approval for the payment of repair of brick dart, sewerage stormlines and cave-ins in Zone-1, Zone-2, Zone -4 and repair of road gullies on ‘A roads’.

“It is informed that due to excessive rain, a lot of damage was done. Around 85 per cent of the work has been completed, for which the estimated cost is around Rs 4 crore. The House will also deliberate on the Rs 2.4 crore spent on the de-silting, blockage of stormlines in Zone-1, Zone-2, Zone-3 of the city. Almost 90-95 per cent of the work has been completed,” the agenda of the meeting read.

The teething problems of mechanical sweeping on the ‘A’ and ‘B’ roads of city are far from over.

The House will take up the issue of route discrepancies in the sweeping work. The contracted firm Global waste Management Cell Privateer Limited has flagged payment assessment discrepancies.

The perennial issues of garbage and broken roads are also set to be discussed in the House meeting.

Councillors have demanded increase in the number of carts for effective garbage collection. They said they will also give their feedback on the door-to-door garbage collection and segregation.
