The house is now expected to elect the new secretary, PCA, within 15 days. In a show of power, the representatives of the Punjab state ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were elected unopposed at the top three posts of the PCA.

Mohali MLA Kulwant, who is a familiar name in the political circles, but a new entrant to the cricketing arena, is the richest of Punjab’s legislators with assets worth Rs 251 crore, according to his 2022 election affidavit, he had political stints with SAD-BJP combine before winning the 2022 Assembly elections on an AAP ticket.

Having near no experience in competitive cricket, he was the first ever secretary of the PCA with assets and business spread around the newly built Mullanpur stadium.
