Mohali poll observer meets officials over samiti elections

Observer Amrit Singh said the district administration and police must ensure voters were able to elect their representatives without any fear or inducement. She emphasised that any person might file a complaint in case of any violation at 62397-34578 or Liaisonofficergram2025@gmail.com.
In addition, complaints addressed to the Election Observer may also be submitted in Room No 257, First Floor, District Administrative Complex, Mohali. She promised immediate action to maintain the transparency and fairness of the election process.
The nomination process is underway for 22 zones of the Panchayat Samiti, Dera Bassi; 15 zones of Panchayat Samiti, Kharar; and 15 zones of Panchayat Samiti, Majri; the last date for which is December 4. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be carried out on December 5, while withdrawal of nominations will be allowed on December 6 at the designated offices of the respective returning officers. Polling will be held on December 14 from 8 am to 4 pm, and the counting will take place on December 17. Training of polling parties will be conducted on December 8, 10 and 13.
Voting will be conducted through ballot papers, and to ensure transparency of the entire polling process, videography will be done, including on the counting day.
SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans briefed the Election Observer about the ‘pre-poll’ and ‘poll-day’ security arrangements. Strict surveillance and robust security arrangements would be ensured during the polling process, Hans added.
The Election Observer appealed to voters and all parties to maintain law & order during the Panchayat Samiti elections to strengthen democracy at the grassroots level. Officials present in the meeting included ADC (Rural Development) Sonam Choudhary, District Development & Panchayat Officer Parambir Kaur and Liaison Officer to the Election Observer Khushwinder Singh.
Meanwhile, a special meeting was conducted at the Sub-Division, Dera Bassi, under the supervision of DSP Bikramjit Singh Brar with respect to the upcoming elections. SHOs of Dera Bassi, Lalru and Handesra, in-charges of Nahar and Mubarikpur police posts along with all MHCs of Sub-Division, Dera Bassi, were present in the meeting. Directions were issued to set up special checkpoints and increase intensive checking of public places and crowded markets.
