On the statement of Bakarpur resident Sukhvir Singh, the manager of the filling station on Rajpura-Zirakpur road, the police registered a case and began the investigation.

Aerocity SHO Jashanpreet Singh said, “It is not clear how much cash has been snatched. Manager Sukhvir is also being probed in the case.” In another incident, miscreants targetted a locked house and stole valuables worth lakhs in Phase-9 on January 26. Complainant Vishal Handa, an advocate, said they had gone out to attend a wedding but when they returned home, they found the house ransacked and valuables stolen.

“There have been close to half a dozen theft in the area in the past fortnight but police have not been able to nab the miscreants. Not a single case has been solved by Phase-8 police,” he complained. In Phase-3A, miscreants targetted the batteries of CCTVs installed by the police recently. In Zirakpur, miscreants stole gold ornaments and valuables worth around Rs 7 lakhs from a locked house in Golden Enclave, B Block, when the houseowner Ram Bahadur Maurya had gone to attend a wedding in Saharanpur. Maurya said five pairs of earrings and Rs 50,000 cash had been stolen from the house.
