Mohi Prabhakar and Hreeday claimed girls’ and boys’ U-11 titles, respectively, on the concluding day of the 18th Ashwani Gupta Memorial Panchkula District Badminton Championships being held at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Sector 3. In the girls’ U-11 final, Mohli claimed a 21-13, 21-16 win over Raizel Garg, while Hreeday defeated Arinjay 21-14, 21-16 to bag the boys’ title.
In the girls’ U-11 doubles final, the team of Mohi and Aarna Kamboj defeated Taisha Singla and Neelakshi 21-18, 21-17, while the pair of Yakshit Rana and Hreeday won the boys’ doubles event by defeating Arinjay and Adil Chhikara 21-14, 21-15. Amber Sharma recorded a comeback 21-17, 21-23, 21-17 victory over Avni to win the girls’ U-13 final. In the doubles event, Amber Sharma and Mahar Sharma posted a 21-17, 16-21, 21-18 win over Avni Pundir and Girija Goyal. Jayesh Duggal won the boys’ title by defeating Aarav Garg 21-9, 21-13 and the team of Hreeday and Aarav Garg won the doubles final by recording a 21-15, 21-16 win over Veer and Abhinav.
Bhavna Chahal faced tough resistance from Ananya before winning the girls’ U-15 title. She recorded a 21-17, 17-21, 21-15 title win. Bhavna and Ananya won the doubles event by logging a 21-5, 21-8 win over Pranya and Ananya Ahuja. Aryan Makkar bagged the boys’ singles title as he easily defeated Jayesh Duggal 21-16, 18-16. Makkar and Jayesh won the doubles title by defeating Abhinav and Parth 21-7, 21-9. In the girls’ U-17 final, Bhavna Chahal had to struggle hard before defeating Ananya Saini 21-19, 21-23, 23-21, while Makkar defeated Rishik Arora 21-13, 21-14 to bag the boys’ singles title.
The team of Akshay Machel and Rajat recorded a 21-15,13-21, 21-10 win over Makkar and Duggal to win the boys’ doubles final. The team of Rishik Arora and Gunjan Panchal recorded a 21-13, 15-21, 21-12 win over Keshav Malik and Prabhleen to bag the mixed doubles final. Ruchi Chahal recorded a comeback 14-21, 21-12, 21-14 victory over Vineeta Panchal to win the girls’ U-19 title, while Keshav Malik easily defeated Kabir 21-17, 21-14 in the boys’ final. The pair of Kabir and Rajat won the doubles final by defeating Naik and Pranav 21-17, 21-18, and in the mixed doubles final Kabir and Jasmine defeated Gunjan Panchal and Vardaan Sharma 21-15 21-17.
Shivain bags double gold
In the senior category, Shivain Sharma won the men’s title by defeating Ishaan Sihag 21-17, 21-19, followed by another win in the doubles’ event. The team of Shivain and Akshit Mahajan defeated Katen and Ravi 21-11, 21-14, 11-21 to win the gold medal. In the mixed doubles, Himanshi Dhingra and Ketan Chahal defeated Ayushi and Kanav 21-10, 21-12. Ruchi Chahal recorded a 21-17, 23-21, 21-12 win over Himanshi Dhingra to bag the women’s title.
