In July, the MC had sought suggestions from the public on the introduction of the single parking pass. Municipal Commissioner Amit Kumar told the House that a large number of residents supported the move and send their suggestions also.
The proposed pass would allow unlimited entries and exits, offering a more convenient and cost-effective option for regular car users.
Meanwhile, the House also gave its nod to the request for proposal (RFP) to hand over the operations and processing of construction and demolition (C&D) waste to a private firm. The MC will earn revenue in the form of royalty from the company, including a share on the sale of products made from the recycled waste. The firm will be selected on the basis of the highest royalty quoted per metric tonne (MT) of waste processed.
The other agenda items approved in the meeting include floating fresh tender for hiring 27 security guards and three security supervisors through the GeM portal and adoption of the stringent Haryana Fire and Emergency Services Act 2022 (Extension to the Union Territory of Chandigarh) Act 2025 with certain relaxations. The proposal for auction of five plots at Pocket No. 6 of Manimajra for “Multi-storey group housing for residential purposes” was also cleared besides tender for GIS-based mechanised and manual sweeping roads in southern sectors (Sectors 31-56, 61 and 63).
The other agendas which have been passed include agenda for Conversion of the Free Parking Area at Hallomajra / Ram Darbar and the Parking Area behind Fun Republic, Manimajra into Paid Parking Facilities for Tourist Buses
One more key agenda item, selection of Indian Oil Corporation Limited as agency for setting up a segregated organic municipal solid waste-based compressed biogas plant, also got the House approval.
Meanwhile, the MC Chief Engineer directed the officers concerned to complete the survey of non-functional streetlights in 10 days. Congress councillor Gurpreet Singh had raised the issue during the meeting.
