Mother & child hospital in Panchkula nearing completion

The Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) aims to complete the construction work of Mother and Child Health Care Hospital at Sector 6, Panchkula within August. Officials of the district health department said they have been holding meetings with representatives of HSVP to make it functional at the earliest.
The construction work at the hospital had started in May 2021. The 7 3 (hospital floors parking lots) storey hospital being constructed at a cost of Rs 113 crore is proposed to have 200 beds for patients; three ICU wards; nine operation theatres; 28 wards with beds for six patients in each ward; three sick, new-born care units; 22 private wards; 35 nursing stations; parking in two of the three basements and a store on one parking floor.
Officials said once operational, the hospital will have facilities, including lift, intercom services, a fire-fighting system among others.
While it is not clear when the hospital will be rendered functional, an official said, “Almost all civil work at the site has been completed. Three of the six lifts to be installed at the site have also been checked.”
When contacted, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Mukta Kumar on Saturday said, “Work of construction of the hospital building is going-on. We held a meeting with representatives of HSVP recently. The office aims to complete major civil and electrical works by August 15.”
She said the district health department had already sent respective proposals for procurement of infrastructure to be installed at the site. She added, “Some of the infrastructure has already been procured. The office of Director General, Health has also sought space at the hospital to transport procured infrastructure to the site.”
