A 35-year-old motorcyclist died in an accident in Sector 10. The victim has been identified as Raju Pandey, a resident of Nayagaon.

The incident occurred when an occupant of an SUV (Jeep), which was parked in front of Hotel Mountview, negligently opened its rear door. Pandey, who was riding a motorcycle, rammed into the door, fell down and was run over by another SUV driven by 51-year-old Jagdeep Singh, a resident of Mohali.

Pandey was rushed to the Government Multi-Speciality Hospital (GMSH) in Sector 16, where the doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The police have booked Jagdeep Singh and the Jeep driver Arnav Bahri (19), a resident of Sector 15, under Section 106 (1) of the BNS at the Sector 3 police station. — TNS
