To maintain the city’s cleanliness, ensure smooth pedestrian movement, and preserve the beauty of public spaces, the Municipal Corporation (MC) carried out a special early morning anti-encroachment drive today across various parks and green belts.

The action was initiated to curb recurring unauthorised setups that obstruct pathways and disrupt public convenience during the morning hours.

The intensive drive, conducted peacefully from 7 am to 12 pm, specifically targeted juice vendors, fruit sellers, coconut rehris and other temporary encroachments commonly found outside major parks. These unauthorised stalls often lead to congestion, littering and safety concerns for morning walkers, joggers and residents.

During the operation, MC teams ensured strict enforcement of regulations and maintained a smooth, conflict-free process. As part of the drive, 47 challans were issued to violators for illegal encroachments and non-compliance with the municipal norms.

While speaking about the drive, MC Joint Commissioner Himanshu Gupta said similar early morning drives would continue regularly to deter habitual encroachers and safeguard the city’s green spaces. The Corporation reiterated its commitment to keep Chandigarh clean, organised, and encroachment-free, urging vendors to adhere to designated vending zones and follow the municipal guidelines.
