Murder accused among 3 arrested for battery thefts

Three persons, including a murder accused, who is out on bail, have been arrested by the UT police for battery thefts at New Indira Colony.

A total of nine batteries have been recovered from the accused. Shiv Kumar had reported that he had parked his e-rickshaw near his house October 27 and next morning he found its batteries stolen. A case was registered at the IT Park police station.

During the investigation, suspects Ankit, alias Lota (21), of Mauli village, was nabbed with a stolen battery. His interrogation led to the arrest of two more suspects, Neeraj, alias Laddu (21), of Mauli Complex, and Ram Singh, alias Dam Singh (34), a resident of the colony. The police recovered eight batteries from them.

The police said two suspects had a criminal past. Neeraj was an accused in a murder case of 2018 registered at the Mauli Jagran police station, while Ram Singh was booked for theft by the Haryana police in Rewari last year.
