A total of 12,940 cases with settlement amount of Rs 1.76 crore were disposed of at district court in Panchkula during a National Lok Adalat on Saturday.

Ajay Kumar Ghanghas, Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Panchkula, said the National Lok Adalat was held under the guidance of VP Sirohi, District and Sessions Judge. Six benches were constituted at the District Courts and one bench at the Subdivision Courts, Kalka.

Sirohi said the benches took up cases from various categories, including civil disputes, criminal compoundable cases, family disputes, traffic challans and cheque bounce, under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, and other matters.
