Naura-Mritunjay panel sweeps PU teachers’ body elections

The Naura-Mritunjay team won the Panjab University Teachers’ Association (PUTA) elections for the ninth consecutive time today. Out of 19, the team won 16 seats.
Amarjit Singh Naura won the top post of president with 239 votes, while Parveen Goyal remained second with 210 votes and Ashok Kumar bagged 105. Mritunjay Kumar won the secretary’s post with 216 votes. His closest competitors were Jayanyti Dutaa (187 votes) and Suman Sumi (144). Simran Kaur won the post of vice-president with 249 votes, Vishal Sharma was elected joint secretary with 238 votes and Deepak Kumar treasurer with 274 votes.

Khushpreet Singh Brar (278 votes), Gautam Bahl (229 votes), Nitin Arora (254) and Sumeedha Singh (222) emerged were elected in Executive Group-I, while in Executive Group II, Rajat Sandhir (298), Arun Bansal (273), Jaspreet Kaur (258) and Vijay Kumar (237) were elected. Neeraj Aggrawal (246), Deepak Kuamr Gupta (233), Anupam Bahri (224) and Amita Sarwal (208) made it to the Executive Group III, while Keshav Malhotra was elected to Executive Group IV and Rajni Executive Group V. A total of 563 votes were polled.
