Three members of a team of the Nayagaon Municipal Council were attacked by unidentified persons after they were returning from Kansal where they had pasted a notice on the premises of one Inderjit Kaur, wife of Parminder Singh, in Parag Valley on Monday afternoon.

Nayagaon Municipal Council executive officer Ravi Jindal, along with three others, had gone to implement the orders of the High Court forbidding new construction in the Sukhna catchment area.

Construction work was going on in the area against Section PMA 195 and 195-A of the PMA, 1911.

The civic body had issued instructions to demolish the construction within three days and report it to the Municipal Council.

The officials said four to five vehicle-borne suspects gheraoed them and tried to attack them.

The Department of Forest and Wildlife Protection has proposed to increase eco-sensitive zone (ESZ) for the Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary from 100 metre to 3 km.
