In order to commemorate the 101st birth anniversary of Padma Shri recipient Nek Chand, creator and director of the Rock Garden, three- day celebrations will start at the Nek Chand Memorial in the Rock Garden on Saturday) in the presence of the Rock Garden Society members.

The birth anniversary of late Nek Chand is celebrated on December 15 every year and this year, the Rock Garden Society, Chandigarh, will be celebrating his 101st birth anniversary in the three-day event.

The celebration will start with the lighting of “diyas” and floral tributes at the wax statue of Nek Chand by theh chief guest, CB Ojha, Chief Engineer, Chandigarh Administration, and other guests.

There will be various folk performances such as “bazigar”, “nachar”, “been-jogi”, “behrupia”, “nagada”, puppet show etc, by artistes from across the country. The celebrations will continue till Monday at Phase-III in Rock Garden.

The various musical performances will be organised by the Tourism Department for general public on December 13 and 14. The event will conclude with a cultural performance by Feroz Khan (Punjabi folk artiste) on December 15.
