As many as 21 house owners have submitted a written complaint to the Municipal Commissioner on October 27 to conduct an immediate inspection of the site and initiate necessary remedial action to ensure that the road is reconstructed or repaired in accordance with prescribed engineering standards.

Complainants Hardeep Singh, KD Sharma, Adarsh Kumar Sharma, Narpinder Singh, Rajwant Kaur and others said, “The level of the newly constructed road is considerably lower than the adjoining channels. As a result, rainwater and wastewater accumulate on the road surface, causing inconvenience to residents.”

Residents further added, “Within a short period of completion, the top layer has started to deteriorate and loose material is visible at several locations. This condition indicates that proper construction standards and material specifications may not have been adhered to during the execution of the work.”

Sector 69 councillor Kuldeep Kaur Dhanoa said, “Not only this, there have been complaints from several areas in the ward. I have also submitted a written complaint to the Municipal Commissioner in the matter.”

Civic body officials said the work will be assessed and further action taken to recitfy the substandard quality work.

Scooter-borne girls fall on scarified road

Road users and residents of Phase 4 and Phase 5 slammed the Municipal Corporation and administration for not relaying the premix on the scarified road opposite Phase 5 market for the past three months.

Two scooter-borne girl students fell on the uneven and dangerous road this afternoon and sustained injuries. Road users criticised the civic body officials for endangering the lives of two-wheeler riders on the stretch, while also flagging the damage caused to the tyres.

The road has been left unattended and incomplete in a dangerous condition for the past three months.
