The oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected members of the Municipal Corporation (MC) will be held at 11.30 am tomorrow. The oath of office will be administered by the Deputy Commissioner.

The elections to the 35 wards of the MC were held on December 24 and results were declared on December 27. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which contested the MC election for the first time, bagged 14 seats while the ruling BJP managed to register win on 12 seats and the Congress remained third by winning eight seats. Meanwhile, one seat was bagged by a Shiromani Akali Dal nominee.

Out of 203 candidates who contested the election, 103 lost their security deposit as they could not garner the required number of votes in the elections. — TNS
