Nitin Kumar Yadav, a 2000-batch IAS officer of the Haryana cadre, will be the new Home Secretary of Chandigarh. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for inter-cadre deputation of Nitin Kumar Yadav from the Haryana cadre to the AGMUT cadre (Chandigarh segment) for a period of three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier. The post is reserved for a Haryana cadre IAS officer.

After completion of inter-cadre deputation, Arun Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary (Home), UT, was relieved on August 31.

The three-year deputation period of the officer had ended in May, but due to a surge in Covid-19 cases, the UT Administration had sought extension in service for three months for Gupta, a Haryana cadre IAS officer of the 1992 batch.
