No new case of Covid-19 was reported from the district in the past two days and the condition of five, who are under treatment, is said to be stable.

The Health Department had sent four samples to the PGI for testing yesterday and all are found to be negative. Today, 26 more samples were sent for testing, the reports of which will come tomorrow.

Civil Surgeon Dr Manjit Singh said the 26 samples that were sent today were of those in contact with two sisters, Gurdev Kaur (69) and Resham kaur (74), both residents of Phase 3A, Mohali, and Amandeep Singh, a resident of Sector 69. All these persons are undergoing treatment at various hospitals after they were tested positive for the virus.

District epidemiologist Dr Harmandeep Kaur said five Covid patients were undergoing treatment at various hospitals and their condition was said to be stable. She also said if people will quarantine themselves inside their homes, then they can curb the menace of this deadly virus.

Meanwhile, the district administration informed that 542 people have undergone quarantine period with no symptoms of corona virus. The spokesman of the district administrative complex said that anyone who comes into contact with the coronavirus positive or symptomatic persons, would have to undergo precautionary quarantine.
