No new positive case in Mohali dist

No new case of Covid-19 was reported from the district in the past two days and the condition of five, who are under treatment, is said to be stable.

The Health Department had sent four samples to the PGI for testing yesterday and all are found to be negative. Today, 26 more samples were sent for testing, the reports of which will come tomorrow.

Civil Surgeon Dr Manjit Singh said the 26 samples that were sent today were of those in contact with two sisters, Gurdev Kaur (69) and Resham kaur (74), both residents of Phase 3A, Mohali, and Amandeep Singh, a resident of Sector 69. All these persons are undergoing treatment at various hospitals after they were tested positive for the virus.

District epidemiologist Dr Harmandeep Kaur said five Covid patients were undergoing treatment at various hospitals and their condition was said to be stable. She also said if people will quarantine themselves inside their homes, then they can curb the menace of this deadly virus.

Meanwhile, the district administration informed that 542 people have undergone quarantine period with no symptoms of corona virus. The spokesman of the district administrative complex said that anyone who comes into contact with the coronavirus positive or symptomatic persons, would have to undergo precautionary quarantine.

Sanitisation drive continues

• The Mohali Municipal Corporation continued its sanitisation drive for the second day as well. All markets, along with some residential areas of the city, have been sanitised with chemicals today.
• Chief Sanitary Inspector Sarbjeet Singh said the task of sanitising the city was going round-the-clock. He said the aim was to completely sanitise the city till tomorrow. “We have conducted sanitisation in all markets and residential areas of Phases 2, 3A, 7 and 9. We are hoping to complete the sanitisation process till tomorrow,” said Sarbjeet.
• For sanitisation, the MC deployed more than 40 sanitary workers and for this, two big machines and 12 smaller machines are put to use.
• The Chief Sanitary Inspector also said sanitary workers and MC officials were taking full precautions during work. He said gloves and masks were provided to each worker.
• MC Commissioner Kamal Kumar Garg was also reviewing on the sanitisation process. He had provided enough stock of chemicals to be used for city sanitisation, he added.
• Sarbjeet Singh said, “The whole city area, along with all villages inside the city, including Kumbra, Sohana, Mataur and Balongi, has to be sanitised. All houses in residential areas have been sanitised from outside.”
