Fatehgarh Sahib, Dec18

Work on a railway over bridge (ROB) as well a railway under bridge (RUB) in Asia’s biggest steel town of Mandi Gobindgarh will start soon as a technical team of the Railways has cleared the project.

The work on the project will start in January 2021 and will be completed at a cost of Rs42 crore within a year. With completion of both projects, people of the adjoining villages will have an easy access to the GT Road and these will help boost trade in the region, said Kaka Randeep Singh, MLA of Amloh, after holding a meeting with the Railway team at the Municipal Council office today.

The MLA said though the foundation stone of the ROB was laid during the previous SAD (B) regime, neither any estimate nor any proper layout of the bridge was prepared then. The foundation stone was laid just before the elections to take political mileage.

He said a team of Panjab University, led y Prof RK Sinha, spent two and a half months preparing the report on social fact, which was forwarded to the Railway Ministry.
