The Chandigarh Badminton Association (CBA) will organise the Yonex Sunrise North Zone Interstate Badminton Championships from September 4 to 8 at the Centre of Excellence for Badminton, Sector 38 Sports Complex. Over 200 shuttlers from the northern region will participate in the senior and junior (U-19) events.

Chief national badminton coach Pullela Gopichand will award the winners on September 8. The championships will be played in team and singles events.

Vijayendra Kumar, Principal Secretary, Government of Haryana, and Tournament Director, along with Priyank Bharti, Secretary, Government of Punjab, and President, CBA, said every participant would be handed over a memento.

Col Raj Parmar, chairman, tournament organising committee, and Surinder Mahajan, general secretary, CBA, confirmed that the technical officials would be appointed by the BAI. “The winners of the senior team championships will represent their states in the interstate and national championships to be held in December at Bangalore and the winners of the junior team events will play in the junior national championships,” said Parmar.
