Chandigarh, July 7

Members of the NSUI, Panjab University, today started a hunger strike at the Sector 35 Congress Bhawan against the UGC’s decision of conducting final-year classes amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Manoj Lubana, national chairman, NSUI social media, along with PUCSC Vice-President Rahul Kumar began the strike. “The NSUI stands against the government on the issue. We believe that conducting exams for the final-year students will expose them to Covid-19 and may also affect their mental health,” said Lubana. Rahul Kumar said conducting exams in the scenario would not be beneficial for the students and demanded roll-back of the decision.
