Poshan Pakhwada — a food festival aimed at generating awareness regarding nutrition through preparation of delicacies — was celebrated at Government Model High School in Mauli Colony recently.

All the teachers of the school participated in the festival by preparing nutritious food. Prabha Bhainsora, special training teacher at the school, said the entire effort was aimed at ensuring holistic physical, cognitive and emotional development of children.

She said the stress was on improving the nutrition and health status of children and adolescent girls with the aim of tackling the problem of under-nutrition, anemia and other health-related issues in children following changes in lifestyle over a period of time.

She added different meals were prepared by the teachers on this occasion, such as vegetable-idli, kheer, halwa and cutlet.  School head Parveen Malik and evening head Lakhwinder Kaur lauded the efforts made by all the teachers in celebrating the festival.
