The Vigilance Bureau (VB) arrested Savtej Singh, a sub-divisional engineer (SDE) of Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation (PSIEC) wanted in connection with committing irregularities in allotment of industrial plots.

A VB spokesperson said the bureau had already registered a case in this regard under Sections 409, 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the IPC and Section 13(1)A read with 13(2) at the VB flying squad-1 police station, Punjab, in Mohali on March 8.

The SDE had allegedly created a bogus firm, M/s Gurtej Industries, in the name of one Gurtej Singh using fake documents. Thereafter, he allegedly allotted plot number A-394, Industrial Focal Point, Amritsar, in the name of the said firm by transferring money from his son Manroop Singh and other relatives’ accounts to the PSIEC.
