One person died as two trucks collided on GT Road in Sirhind today. The deceased has been identified as Hitesh Palta, a resident of Barnala. In his statement to Sirhind police, driver Lakhbir Singh, a resident of Bootar Kalan village in Moga, said he was going to Mandi Gobindgarh on his truck along with Hitesh Palta and Deepak Kumar. As he reached near Mota Dhaba on GT Road, another truck overtook his truck and suddenly applied brakes, causing collision. Hitesh sustained serious injuries in the accident and died. The police have registered a case against the unknown truck driver and handed over the body of the deceased to the family members after the postmortem.
