One held for bid to snatch jewellery from Kalka woman

Giving details, ACP (Crime) Arvind Kamboj said on November 19 around 5 am, two unidentified youths on a motorcycle approached an elderly woman near the Radha Krishna Temple in Kalka and began speaking to her on the pretext of asking for directions. During the conversation, they suddenly assaulted her and tried to snatch her ring. On hearing the woman’s cries for help, the accused fled from the spot. A case of attempted snatching was registered at the Kalka police station.
On Sunday, detective staff in-charge Mandeep Singh’s team received a tip-off that one of the accused had been spotted in the Tagra Hakimpur area. Acting swiftly, the team conducted a raid and apprehended the accused.
The arrested accused was identified as Vinay of Kaithal. He was produced in a court today which sent him to judicial custody. — TNS
