To provide affordable items to those in need while promoting the concept of reduce, reuse and recycle (3Rs), the Municipal Corporation (MC) has opened its ninth ‘One Rupee Store’ at the EWS community centre in Maloya. The store was inaugurated under the ongoing “Safai Apnao Bimaari Bhagao” campaign.

Mayor Kuldeep Kumar inaugurated the new store in the presence of MC Commissioner Anindita Mitra and area councillor Nirmala Devi. Other councillors, senior MC officials and prominent members of the ward were also present.

The Mayor said the MC’s permanent RRR centre in Sector 17 had received an overwhelming response from citizens over the past year. The aim of these stores is to provide affordable access to items such as books, electronics, clothing, crockery, kitchenware, toys and bed sheets, all priced at just Re 1 per item, while promoting the 3R concept. — TNS
