MA Khan drubbed Umesh Rajpal 11-8 11-8 11-9 to claim the title in the men’s 40 singles competition during the 5th Chandigarh State Veteran Table Tennis Championships at the Sector 50 Sports Complex here today.

In the semifinals, Khan registered an 11-8 9-11 11-8 11-8 win over Puneet Sharma, while Rajpal overcame Paramjeet Singh 11-8 7-11 11-8 9-11 11-6.

In the women’s 40 category, Shikha downed Rama Kakkar 11-9 6-11 11-8 11-9 to clinch the title.

Harish Kakkar thrashed Narinder Banga 11-8 11-7 11-8 in the men’s 50 title clash, while Savita ousted Saroj Arora 11-8 11-9 11-7 in the women’s final.

In the 60 age group, P Chakravarti edged out HS Narang 11-8 11-9 11-9 to claim the men’s singles title.

In the semifinals, Narang prevailed 11-8 9-11 11-7 11-7 over Sanjay Sharma, while Chakravarti trounced Vir Singh Thakur 11-7 11-6 11-9.

Davinder Khosla, meanwhile, drubbed Anil Gupta 11-9 11-9 11-8 in the men’s 65 title clash, while Yashbir drubbed Virat Chaudhary 11-7 11-6 11-7 to win the 70 competition.

In the men’s doubles contest, Khan and Vishal Prakash dismissed Umesh Rajpal and Bhupinder 11-8 11-8 11-9 to clinch the 40 title, while Narender Banga and Bharat Singh overcame Sanjeev and Ashwani Sharma 11-9 11-7 9-11 11-9 in the 50 summit clash.

DN Maggo and MS Bisht beat Subhash Chander Sharma and P Chakraborty 11-8 11-7 5-11 11-6 to claim the title in men’s doubles 60 age group.

In the men’s doubles 65 title clash, Davinder Khosla and Vinod Gupta dispatched CM Sharma and Anil Gupta 11-6 11-8 11-9, while in the 70 final, Balbir Virdi and Patanjali Kumar beat Virat Chaudhary and Yashbir 11-9 11-8 11-9.

Shikha and Vandana beat Sukhwinder and Rama 11-8 11-9 8-11 11-7 to claim the veteran’s title. — TNS
