Pair of Aaron-Hyeon wins tennis title

The pair of Aaron Gabet and Hyeon Seok Seo won the boys’ doubles title on the concluding day of the J200 Chandigarh ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors Tournament, organised by the Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association (CLTA) at Sector 10 complex.

The title winning pair defeated Hitesh Chauhan and Ilya Maltsev after a neck-to-neck fight. Chauhan and Maltsev won the first set 4-6, but Gabet and Seo made a comeback by winning the next two games 6-1 10-8.

The pair of Polina Berezina and Daria Koreshkova won the girls’ doubles final by defeating Yesung Choo and Yu-Chin Lin 6-4 7-6.

In the boys’ singles semifinals, top seed Korean Donghyun Hwang logged an easy 6-1 6-2 win over Erasyl Bakhtiyar of Kazakhstan. He will be facing Ruslan Kastsiukevich, who defeated Roman Kharlamo 6-2 6-0, in the final on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Daria Koreshkova struggled hard to defeat Serbian Masa Jankovic. After levelling games in the first set, Daria managed to log a 7-6(2) win, but the Serbian contender bounced back with a 2-6 verdict in the next set. In the final set, Daria managed to control her game and logged a stunning 6-3 victory to sail into the final. Polina Kuharenko won the second semifinal by defeating Indian player Maaya Rajeshwaran
