Panchkula DCP conducts surprise night inspection at checkpoints

Looking to ensure round-the-clock vigilance, newly appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Srishti Gupta carried out a surprise late-night inspection of police checkpoints across the city.

From 11 pm on Sunday night until 2 am, Gupta visited several key nakas in civil attire and without prior notice. The unannounced checks were aimed at evaluating the alertness and preparedness of personnel stationed at night.

While interacting with officers on duty, the DCP closely reviewed their vigilance practices, including their procedures for monitoring suspicious behaviour and conducting vehicle checks. She stressed the importance of maintaining high alertness levels during every shift and directed officers to thoroughly inspect any person or vehicle that raises suspicion.

Beyond operational efficiency, Gupta also underlined the importance of courteous conduct. She reminded the police personnel that while security is paramount, maintaining respectful and professional interactions with the public is equally vital.

Special focus was placed on checkpoints monitoring drunk driving. The DCP also tested the functioning of alco-sensor kits, examined lighting conditions, reviewed CCTV coverage, and checked the placement of barricades and safety gear.

She assessed the performance and attitude of on-ground staff, issuing immediate instructions for improvement where necessary. Officers were cautioned against complacency, with the DCP making it clear that dereliction of duty would not be tolerated and surprise inspections could occur at any time.

Gupta reiterated her commitment to citizen safety, stating that a secure city depends on a vigilant, responsive, and community-oriented police force.
