Panchkula firm’s store manager booked for stealing Rs 2.16L

An employee of an interior consultancy firm in Sector 9 here has been booked for stealing Rs 2.16 lakh from the office.

In a complaint to the police, Famuddin, an interior consultant, stated that Padam Jeet Kumar, store manager in the firm, had stolen Rs 2.16 lakh from the store’s locker.

He stated that Kumar had come to the store on July 21 and without prior notice took charge of the cash counter. The theft came to light on July 24 when a representative from the cash collection agency of a bank arrived at the store to take cash.

Kumar had taken the key to the locker along and was not available at the store. The office then sent an employee to collect the keys.

The complainant said Kumar admitted that he took Rs 2.16 lakh with him which he had used for his personal needs. Famuddin accused him of misappropriation and breach of trust.

A case under Section 306 (theft) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered at the Sector 5 police station.
