Sneakin Golfers defeated Green Warriors 3-2 by winning three games out of the five, during the opening quarterfinal of the Panchkula Golf League, teed off at the Panchkula Golf Club on Friday. The final game was decided on the 18th hole where octogenarian Col AN Sharma (retd) from Sneakin Golfers managed a 45ft putt to seal their victory.

In another quarter final clash, Victory Waves overcame Raging Bulls to secure a spot in the semi-finals of the tournament. Victory waves was tied against Raging Bulls with both teams winning two games each and halving the fifth game. The match then went into a sudden death playoff and Victory Waves’ won on the second hole of the playoff and eventually won the match.

In another encounter Golfing Panthers got the better of Tee Birds winning the match 3-2. Golfing Panthers won three of the five games outright to win the tie. In another game Highland Kings displayed skilful golf to beat Golfing Eagles 3-2.

Earlier, eight teams that had advanced to the knockout stage of the Panchkula Golf League were — Victory Waves, Highland Kings, Golfing Panthers, Sneakin Golfers, Green Warriors, Golfing Eagles, Tee Birds and Raging Bulls. The semis will be held on April 20, followed by the final on April 23.
