Panchkula MC likely to present Rs 250 crore budget

Panchkula Municipal Corporation today held a meeting of the Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC). Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal said the MC has managed to increase its budget from Rs 119.37 crore in 2021 to Rs 250 crore. The MC will hold a special meeting for the budget on February 29.
To carry out road repair works
- The Municipal Corporation is set to begin road repair works in the city. It has already awarded tenders and issued the work orders, officials said
- Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal said: “The contractors will begin the works of reconstruction of roads of Sectors 21, 12 and industrial area in the initial phase. We are also issuing more works of recarpeting of roads of sectors 25, 11 and others.”
- The MC will also carry out concretisation road work and laying of storm water lines at industrial area at an expenditure of Rs 1.47 crore
Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal said the MC will deliver the copies of the budget to the councillors.
He said the MC is expected to generate Rs 255.59 crore during the upcoming fiscal year and witness an expenditure of Rs 251.35 crore.
He said so far, the MC has issued 380 tenders online and has completed works worth Rs 130 crore. “Many development works have taken place in the BJP-JJP alliance. So far in all 20 wards, works worth Rs 272.54 crore have been done during our tenure. Over 100 parks have been renovated, toilets repaired and several community centres have also been repaired.”
The meeting also approved Rs 1.12 crore for the remaining work of strengthening of bituminous roads in Sector 11, Ward 11, Rs 67.78 lakh for construction of box type culvert, cement concrete street at various locations of existing culverts in village Uparli Ward 16, repair and renovation of footpath from Sector 14 Phase 1 to flyover and other works.
