Panchkula police nab two cybercriminals from UP

The cybercrime wing of the Panchkula police arrested two residents of UP in relation to two different cyber scams registered in the city.

In the first case registered on June 21, Sagar Gupta, a resident of Pinjore here complained someone had misused his documents and had taken a loan of Rs 9.50 lakh in his name.

He said an individual representing a company had come to his shop and informed him that he had taken a loan of Rs 9.50 lakh and had failed to make any payments in lieu of it. He said his documents did not match with those that were shown to him. A few days days later, he was contacted by the company again after which it came to light that someone had misused his documents to take a loan of Rs 9.50 lakh from the company.

The Panchkula police here arrested Sourav Aggarwal, a resident of Mathura in UP in connection with the case.

Investigating officer in the case, Mukesh Kumar said they had earlier caught one Sagar, a resident of Haryana. “We collected vital information regarding preparation of documents misused in the crime and managed to nab Saurav Aggarwal of UP. These individuals prepared fake documents and misused pan card number of the victim to get a loan. They used to remain in touch through telegram application,” he said.

In the second case, the police nabbed Ashutosh Nageshwar, a resident of Agra in UP.

Victim Lalit Singla, a resident of Sector 7, Panchkula, had complained he was duped of Rs 9.68 crore in the name of investing it in stock market.

According to the complainant, he had transferred the money to scammers for investment in stock market and was shown that his money had been doubled on a particular website. But he did not receive any money when he sought it from them. Instead, the scammers asked him to deposit more money. The police later registered a case at the Cyber-crime Police Station, Sector 12, upon his complaint. They then nabbed an IT expert (BSc IT graduate), resident of Patiala and his accomplice Mustaq Mohammad of Ghanaur in Patiala.

The police have now nabbed Ashutosh Nageshwar, a resident of Agra in relation to the case.
