Panchkula: Two gangs of thieves busted, 7 arrested; 20 bikes recovered

Panchkula, March 22

With the arrest of seven persons, the crime branch of the Panchkula police today claimed to have busted two gangs involved in stealing motorcycles. Twenty bikes have been recovered from their possession.

In the first incident, the suspects were identified as Sunil, alias Manni, a resident Sector 8, Ambala City, Ramandeep, a resident of Ambala City and presently residing in Sector 22-B, Chandigarh, and Kulbir Singh, alias Minta, a resident of Amabala City. A case was registered against them at the Sector 5 police station.

Sunil had stolen a bag containing valuables from a Hyundai Verna car at the parking of Vishal Mega Mart on October 27, 2021. He was arrested on March 19 and produced in a court, which remanded him to two-day police custody.

He revealed that he and Ramandeep had broken the glass of the window and stolen the bag. They had stolen a large number of motorcycles and a scooter from Ambala, Kurukshetra, Chandigarh and Panchkula. The police arrested their accomplice Kulbir and recovered nine stolen motorcyles.

The police said four members of the second gang were arrested during a routine checking. They were identified as Vikas, alias Rohit, alias Badra, a resident of Bitna Colony near Pinjore, Bharat, alias Nepali, a resident of Vishwakarma Colony in Pinjore, Dheeraj, alias Shallua, and Kamal, alias Dhota, both residents of Saini Mohalla, Pinjore. A case was registered against them at the Kalka police station on March 19. The police had recovered 11 motorcycles from their possession.
