Three people died and one was injured in a road accident between a car and an unidentified vehicle at Boothgarh lightpoint in the wee hours of Monday.

The deceased have been identified as Shubham Jattwal, a PhD student in Forensic Science at Panjab University (PU) and a resident of Boys’ Hostel 3; Saurabh Panday, a former PU student from the Human Genome department; and one Rubina.

The injured was identified as Manvendra, a research scholar in Forensic Science at PU.

Locals said a damaged car was found at the spot while the other vehicle involved in the accident was missing.

Police are scanning the CCTV footage.

The bodies have been sent to the Phase 6 hospital and the families sounded.
