The first-year students of Biotechnology, Computer Science and Engineering, and Information Technology of the UIET appeared for the applied physics paper as part of their first mid-semester examinations yesterday. But after some students alleged that the question paper carrying 30 marks was already in the public domain via social media, the department cancelled the exam and got it re-conducted today.

After the news spread that the question paper had leaked, students also raised the issue with the teachers. The department informed the students that the exam would be re-conducted on Wednesday.

The Vice-Chancellor, Dr Renu Vig, said they were looking into the matter. “The department is yet to submit a report on the issue,” she said. Prof Sanjeev Puri, Director, University Institute of Engineering and Technology, could not be reached for his comment.
