But the day has come sooner given the adverse impacts of climate change are wrecking lives and property. It is the right time to make a start in Punjab with Mohali district taking the lead.
To prevent stubble burning during the upcoming paddy harvesting season, the Parali Protection Force (PPF) has been constituted till the block level in Mohali today.
Reviewing the preparations with departments concerned, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Sonam Chaudhary said, “The PPF will function under the supervision of the respective Sub- Divisional Magistrate and Deputy Superintendent of Police. The force will comprise Naib Tehsildars, Agriculture Development Officers, SHOs, Cluster Officers, and representatives from other relevant departments.”
The PPF teams will conduct patrolling in hotspot areas, enforce laws against stubble burning, create awareness about its harmful effects, and ensure optimum utilisation of available crop residue management machinery.
