In a complaint to the UT SSP and the MC Commissioner, the association alleged that Pashchatya Entertainment Private Limited had been illegally charging money from visitors and shopkeepers for the past two months without any authorisation from the civic body.

“The contractor had been collecting parking fee from shopkeepers and visitors to the Sector 22-D market by issuing slips of the Sector 22-C parking lot. The firm even made monthly passes for two-wheelers and four-wheelers,” said Vikas Bansal, president, Bajwara Showroom Market Association.

Despite repeated phone calls, no official of the parking firm could be contacted for their version.

MC Joint Commissioner Sorabh Arora said, “I have come to know about the incident in the evening. We will enquire about the matter tomorrow.” Residents claimed that the firm vacated the lot when a complaint was lodged on September 23.

There have been complaints against the firm in the past too when it had illegally charged fee at a parking lot near the sabzi mandi in the Bajwara market for about two months.

“They had vacated the area only when residents held a protest,”

Bansal added.

On Saturday, a group of shopkeepers submitted their complaint to the SHO, Sector 17 police station. The shopkeepers alleged that they had approached the police earlier too but no action was taken on their complaint.
