In order to commemorate 75 years of sovereign democratic republic, the Regional Passport Office (RPO) will organise a 75-day special camp for applications which have been put on hold due to applicants having insufficient documents at the time of submission of passport files.

Sources at the office said the inspiration for holding the camp stems from Article 21 of the Indian Constitution, which enshrines the Right to Life and Personal Liberty, including the Right to Travel Abroad. The Chandigarh RPO officer, Priyanka Mehtani, said, “The office aims to clear at least 5,600 applications during this 75-day period. This is over and above the 4,665 passport and 300 inquiry appointments being released daily.”

“We commenced the work for this special camp on Republic Day by sending communications to applicants informing them about pending documents and allotting them specific days to visit the office. The camp will start on February 17 and end on June 10,” said Priyanka.
