In a proud moment for Government Medical College, Dr Gagneen Kaur Sandhu, Associate Professor in the Department of Physiology, has been honoured with the Best Paper Award at the 4th National Congress of Indonesian Society of Sleep Medicine (INA SLEEP).

The prestigious event took place from November 22 to 24, in Manado, Indonesia. Dr Sandhu’s research, titled “A Study on the Prevalence of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) Risk Factors in Drivers Who Met Fatal Road Traffic Accidents,” gained international recognition for its groundbreaking insights into the role of OSA in road traffic accidents.

The study emphasises the urgent need for screening professional drivers for sleep disorders to mitigate accidents caused by excessive daytime sleepiness, a common symptom of untreated OSA. The paper stood out among entries from global experts, reflecting the high quality of research and academic rigor upheld by Government Medical College, Patiala.
