Former BJP councillor Seema Sharma faced the ire of contract workers, particularly sweepers and Class IV employees, who emptied two trolleys full of garbage outside her residence today.

They accused her of not depositing their benefits to the tune of Rs 50 lakh with the civic body when she was a contractor with the MC from 2015 to 2018 and had hired sweepers and Class IV employees.

On the other hand, Sharma slammed the allegations as baseless and alleged that garbage was dumped outside her house at the behest of the ruling government. She claimed that she was being targeted as she was the complainant in a vote-rigging case. She said the civic body polls held in December last year were rigged. She also claimed that the MC authorities were not releasing her dues even as she had submitted the related bills.

Earlier in March, the Supreme Court had formed a fact-finding commission under Justice Nirmaljit Kaur, former Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, to probe allegations against the ruling AAP that it connived with police officials and third parties and prevented candidates from filing their nomination papers by engaging in physical assault, tearing of clothes and snatching of papers.
