Mohali, August 1
Posters carrying the photograph of a swindler were pasted in the local Civil Hospital after a patient was reportedly duped of Rs 20,000 by a man posing as a doctor on July 29.
The police pasted these posters on the hospital complex today to warn visitors against falling prey to such unscrupulous elements.
The victim, Ishwar Dutt Sharma, a senior citizen of Sector 56, said the man posing as a doctor told him to get an ECG done. He told Dutt that he had cash in lower denomination and needed Rs 20,000 in Rs 500 notes. The victim had cash with him and gave the imposter the amount he asked for. After taking money, the imposter asked Dutt to wait in another room. He waited for some time and later came to know that he had been duped by the imposter.
