In a continued crackdown on drug trafficking, the Crime Branch, Sector 26, Panchkula Police, has apprehended a youth and seized 52 grams of heroin from his possession. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth nearly Rs 2 lakh.

ACP, Crime, Arvind Kamboj said on November 27, acting on a tip-off, a Crime Branch team led by Inspector Daleep Singh nabbed a youth roaming suspiciously in Sector 14. The team recovered 52 gram of heroin from the possession of Mohit, a resident of Sector 20, Panchkula.The accused was subsequently taken into custody.

DCP, Crime, Manpreet Singh Sudan said a case under Section 21 of the NDPS Act had been registered at the Sector 14 police station. The accused was produced in court on Thursday, where he was remanded in three days of police custody. The police will use the remand period to investigate the source of the heroin, potential buyers and whether the accused is part of a larger supply network. Efforts are underway to dismantle the entire chain involved in the drug distribution.
