The city’s first Eye Film Festival (CME) was held here today to impart Continuing Medical Education (CME) to more than 120 eye specialists from across the country.

The CME organised by Chandigarh Cornea Centre (CCC) attracted young ophthalmologists from the public sector, corporate sector and standalone eye clinics.

PGI Director Prof Jagat Ram was the chief guest. He lauded the work done by Dr Ashok Sharma, Director, CCC, in the field of corneal grafting and rendering eye care to the community. While inaugurating the event, he presented a unique video film demonstrating cataract surgery in children with congenital eye malformation.

Earlier, Dr R Kumar, senior eye specialist and president, SPEAK India, welcomed the chief guest, guests of honour Dr Sudhank Bharti from Delhi and Dr Prateep Vyas from Indore, other guests. He exhorted the doctors to make medical services ethical and affordable for the community.

Dr Bharti presented how to perform safe cataract surgery in complicated cases. Dr Vyas, a glaucoma specialist, demonstrated how to fix the problems after glaucoma surgery. Dr Ashok demonstrated the management of Descemet’s membrane detachment, a complication of cataract surgery. — TNS
