Professor in the Division of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology, Department of Internal Medicine at PGIMER, Dr Shefali K Sharma, was honoured with the Indian Rheumatology Association Oration at IRACON 2025, held in New Delhi.

Sharma delivered the oration during the four-day annual conference, which brought together rheumatologists, researchers and students from across India and abroad.

The award recognises Sharma’s outstanding contributions and lifelong dedication to the study and treatment of systemic sclerosis and rheumatology. Her research and clinical work have advanced the understanding and management of the disease in India.

Sharma also heads Scleroderma India, a national initiative aimed at raising awareness, promoting early diagnosis

and supporting patients living with scleroderma. Under her leadership, annual patient awareness programmes are organised at PGIMER. —TNS
